FAQs

where are you based? any travel fees?

I am based in Southern Louisiana, specifically right outside of Lafayette! It’s a nice central location to surrounding cities like Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Alexandria and Houma. It takes me only 2.5 hours to get to New Orleans.

No matter the location of your wedding, I provide each couple with a custom quote once I have enough details about your day. This quote is all-inclusive with no additional fees added, and if your wedding requires me to travel, I book everything myself.

who chooses the music for our videos?

The short answer is, I do!

But there are 3 main considerations when it comes to choosing songs:

  1. Sometimes a song might sound great, but that doesn’t always translate to it working well as part of a film. There have been many times during editing where I choose a song and then end up pivoting in a different direction. Ultimately, I need the flexibility to make those decisions to create the best film for you.

  2. Choosing music also comes down to what I am able to license. I personally use the site MusicBed, where I am able to license high quality music from a huge variety of independent artists.

  3. Some of my best music choices have come about when the couple gives me ideas to inspire my song choices! I love to know your vibe and you are always more than welcome to send me a playlist of a few songs or other wedding videos where you liked the music.

do you use a drone?

My style of filming is all about trying to capture the day as you and your guests experienced it, and I believe it’s more beneficial to focus on the people and interactions right in front of me. However, if your wedding location plays a big part in your love story or you’re getting married somewhere that has some really special views, then let’s discuss.

how long until we get our videos back?

Over the years I’ve found that my sweet spot is 4-6 months. Depending on the time of year, my editing schedule, etc. it could be sooner than that, but your wedding film is created very thoughtfully with love; it shouldn’t be a rush job. I also don’t outsource any of my editing. I promise it will be worth the wait!

HOW WILL YOU WORK WITH MY PHOTOGRAPHER?

While filming, I very rarely interrupt the flow of moments as they happen and it’s unusual for me to give staged poses. I am often floating around the room while everyone is doing their thing and living in the moment. I prefer to let the beauty unfold in front of me instead of trying to create it.

Over the years, I have worked with a wide variety of photographers, all with different types of shooting styles. While I do love working with photographers that also prioritize an unobtrusive and documentary-led approach, ultimately I respect that we are two separate artists working towards the same goal. If your photographer works in a way that is heavily based in posing, I know where to be and what to film to capture the best video footage without getting in anyone else's way.

HOW DO PAYMENTS WORK?

To secure your date, a $1,000 non-refundable retainer is required.

The remaining balance must be paid in full 30 days prior to your wedding date. The majority of couples choose to divide this into a payment schedule. All specifics will be reviewed on your proposal before being finalized.

DO YOU OFFER A SECONDARY VIDEOGRAPHER IN YOUR PACKAGES?

I've filmed intimate weddings with 30 guests, and large New Orleans weddings with a second line and over 300 guests. All of the work you see was filmed by me, filming solo. When I am working alone, I can focus all of my creative energy into your day without distraction.

Only for certain out-of-state weddings, I may include a secondary videographer based on the scope of the event.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE HOME VIDEO/RAW FOOTAGE THING.

This is something I am so passionate about offering!

But for full context, let’s backtrack a little bit to the late 90’s…

I grew up watching my aunt’s wedding video and it’s a true old-school home video. A guy was at the wedding with his camcorder and the video is an hour and a half of no-frills, no posing. Just unedited, true documentary footage of the day with all of the original audio.

So now here we are, 25 years later. And no, it’s not something we sit and watch everyday. But it truly is a time capsule. My great-grandparents voices are on that video, my grandparents look the way I remember them as a kid, and I get to hear my little voice the way everyone else heard it. I can hear the songs that were played, see the food that was served, and see all the people that are no longer with us. Memories and sounds and voices that are long lost in the stream of time are right there, captured on that video.

Fast-forward to now and lots of videographers (and couples) have focused in on the Highlight videos as being the only part of the deal. Highlight videos are high-quality, cinematic, and easily shareable online. But what gets lost if that’s the only thing you’re getting?

Many times, couples aren’t offered the raw footage or if they are, it’s costs quite a bit more. But to me, it’s not extra. I love crafting Highlight videos for my couples, but that’s simply not the whole story. It’s only part of the story. And I know from personal experience just how valuable that footage becomes as the years continue to pass. So every couple I film automatically gets the raw footage compilation. More specific details are included in your welcome guide!
